Blue Angels delight fans with high performance show at Great Florida Air Show

Blue Angels delight fans with high performance show at Great Florida Air Show

With the Navy’s rich history here on the Space Coast, it’s no surprise the Blue Angels have one of their summer-show stops here at Melbourne Airport as a feature of The Great Florida Air Show.

Started in 1946, the Blue Angels were created as a flight exhibition team to raise the public’s interest and excitement in naval aviation and to boost Navy morale. Throughout the decades, the Blue Angels have stunned crowds with their high-flying acrobatics and highly technical in-flight maneuvers, often performed in groups of six fighter jets flying within eighteen inches wing tip to wing tip.

This weekend, the Blue Angels are here on the Space Coast to headline The Great Florida Air Show with  their brand-new F/A-18 Super Hornets, a pinnacle of modern fighter technology. They have even treated Space Coast residents with a tease while practicing overhead Thursday and Friday.

Blue Angels treat local residents to a preview of this weekend's show as they practice maneuvers.

With gates opening at 8:00am both Saturday May 16, and Sunday May 17 at Orlando Melbourne International Airport, attendees are encouraged to show up early and line up to ensure a quality spot to view the stunning events of the day.

Static displays, vendors and exhibits will be open as well. The Blue Angels aren’t the only attraction. Also performing are an F-16 Viper demo, EA-18G Growler, Quicksilver P51 Mustang, Class of ’45, the Navy Legacy Flight and the U.S. SOCOM jump team.
