A1A Battle of the Burrito Week 3: Big Island Burrito - Indialantic

A1A Battle of the Burrito Week 3: Big Island Burrito - Indialantic

Welcome to Week Three of the A1A Battle of the Burrito. This week's contender is Big Island Burrito in Indialantic.

What I Ordered: Extreme Burrito - Taco meat, white rice, pinto beans, lettuce, pico de gallo, and sour cream.

Cost: $8.75

Authenticity: 6/10They don't advertise themselves as a Mexican restaurant nor does the decor reflect one. Upon walking in, they had reggae music playing, surfing on the TVs, and murals of beach life. Big Island Burritos is 100% surf lifestyle serving burritos and beer for your post surf hunger.

Presentation: 7/10. Nothing flashy here, just serving up good grub in a laid back environment.

Flavor Balance: 8/10. The portions of each ingredient, and how they were dispersed throughout the tortilla was perfect which is something a lot of places mess up. No one wants a bite full of rice, then a bite full of beans, then a bite full of lettuce etc. While everything tasted really good, I think that with a bit more cumin, garlic salt, and cilantro, it could be perfect. Big Island layered it properly before wrapping it...which brings us to The Wrap.

The Wrap: 10/10. No questions asked. The tortilla was wrapped nice, tight and clean with a wrap of tin foil around the bottom half. The burrito stayed together beautifully all the way through it. Big Island Burritos are "to-go" ready, no napkins needed.

Overall: If you're looking for a Mexican restaurant, this isn't your place. If you're looking for a chill surfy beach spot with good food to post up your sandy feet after hopping out of the water in Indialantic, then this is your new spot. Bonus points for having a wide selection of beer including a traveling surfers favorite from Costa Rica, Imperial!

Tune in next week when we stop by Fiesta Jalisco in Indian Harbour.
